Zagara Food was born from the experience of Luca and Dario, owners of Zagara Snc in Italy. For 11 years they have been selecting niche, high-quality fruit and vegetables, bringing to their shop the best of their homeland, Sicily. Building on this solid foundation, a natural evolution began: transforming the same raw ingredients already available in-store into a ready-to-eat, healthy, high value-added offering. “Zagara” is the citrus blossom and its unmistakable fragrance—an iconic symbol of Sicily: an essence from which everything started and that still inspires the project’s identity today.

Zagara Food’s challenge

The challenge was to respond to an increasingly common need: customers who want to eat well even when they have little time. To do so, Luca and Dario created a deli/food-prep lab (“Zagara Food”) capable of turning fresh fruit and vegetables into simple, quick, and healthy preparations, without compromising the product’s quality and identity. In this transition, Firex’s support and the introduction of the Cucimix multifunction cooker made it possible to organize the work in a more modern, structured, and efficient way. Not only that: Firex also helped them better organize operations and optimize production times.

Zagara Food in numbers

Zagara’s numbers tell a story of tangible growth: 11 years in fresh-produce retail and, in the last year, the launch of a new line/lab dedicated to healthy ready-to-eat products. The real leap, however, lies in the business approach: not changing the raw materials, but increasing their value through processing—standardizing recipes, optimizing time, and managing shelf life in a more controlled way. In addition, Cucimix’s versatility has made it possible to produce many recipes with a single machine—an essential advantage in a kitchen with limited space.

With Cucimix, Zagara Food has turned its fresh-produce business into a growth lab: the same starting quality, much more value on the plate.
